The demand for SHARE services remains high. Last year, SHARE has assisted 653 families (1636 individuals) with food and other necessities. During the holidays, we look to our generous community to make the lives of those less fortunate a little brighter. SHARE's Holiday Program is a decades-old tradition in the Souhegan Valley. There are many ways you can participate and celebrate the holidays by helping a family in need.

Please consider the following options for holiday donations and let us know how you would like to help this year. We are happy to answer any questions. Email or call the SHARE Center at (603) 673-9898.

Adopt a Local Family for the Holidays

Please consider making the holidays special for one of these families by 'adopting' them.

If you have adopted a family from SHARE in the past, we want you to know we have made some changes this year for our family 'wish list'.  This year, the 'wish list' for the family will include two "needs" and two "wants" for each child under the age of 18 as well as a request for a family gift (for example: movie tickets, board games, restaurant gift certificate, etc.).   When adopting a family you'll spend about $65 on gifts for each child plus a family gift.

If you are unable to adopt a family alone, why not ask other family members, co-workers, friends or other groups to share in this meaningful holiday fun?  If you wish to do more, we suggest that you adopt another small family or make a monetary contribution to SHARE.  If you would like to adopt a family, you may:

  1. Click here to fill out the convenient online form; OR
  2. Call the office to give your information over the phone (673-9898).

*If you choose to adopt a family, please keep in mind that we will begin matching families with adopters in November. We will do our best to match you as soon as possible. For planning purposes, note that the gifts are due to SHARE December 6-9. Detailed instructions will be sent with your adopted family information.

Adopt Single Adults for the Holidays

To adopt single adults, we request donations of gift cards in $25.00 increments. These may be to one of the area grocery or drug stores as well as stores such as Wal-Mart and Target.

Donate Food

The demands on the SHARE Food Pantry are immense. Last year, SHARE distributed food for 139,000 meals. November and December is the perfect time to make a donation of food either for Holiday Food Baskets or to stock the pantry shelves for shoppers or to help us put a little away in storage for the winter. Donate through your local grocery store or place of worship or involve your friends and family: ask everyone in your book group, club, or class to bring in a nonperishable item, collect food at your holiday party, or challenge your co-workers. No donation is too small.

The following items are needed for holiday baskets:

Stuffing, gravy, cranberry sauce, canned vegetables (corn, green beans), white cake mixes and frosting,  pie crust, canned pumpkin, pumpkin pie spice, evaporated milk, instant potatoes, chicken broth, apple juice (no glass), whole chickens, and of course, turkeys!

Make a Monetary Donation

Donations may be made in person at the SHARE Center, 1 Columbus Avenue, Milford or by mail or by clicking the link on Be sure to specify if you would like your donation used for the holidays or for SHARE to use helping families throughout the year.

If you would like to volunteer your time during the holidays, please email our volunteer coordinator, Shaye Hardner at

Donations may be dropped at the SHARE Center Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Call 673-9898 or email if you have questions or need a more convenient time to donate.

Thank you for your support of those in need!
