NewsletterNewsletter Summary January - March 2007 A look back at 2006: Thank you to the volunteers, individuals, families, schools, companies, businesses, organizations, and churches who donated food, money, gifts, and their precious time to make a difference in the lives of so many. SHARE Event Proceeds: Crop Walk $5,091; July 4th $1,187; Antiques on the Green $554; VFW Golf Tournament $1,000; Infant Jesus Penny Sale $6,583; Christmas Fair $3,880; Spaghetti Supper $1,300 Statistics: Thanks to your generosity, in 2006, SHARE was able to provide $247,447 in financial assistance, 223 Thanksgiving baskets, Christmas gifts to 310 families, have over 800 visits to the Food Pantry, and over 26,000 items from the Clothing Barn. Upcoming Events: 18th annual Crop Walk - to be held Sunday, May 6th. Jan Petrella, Administrative Assistant SHARE is pleased to announce that Jan Petrella has joined the staff. Jan has volunteered for many years. Board President, Mariette Facques, believes Jan is "the perfect choice to be working with Maria and Carolyn." Jan will be responsible for handling the bookkeeping and tracking statistics, among other tasks. Jan lives in Amherst with Bob, her husband, and enjoys spending time with her family, including two grandchildren, Charlotte and Benjamin. She will be taking some time off in the summer to walk a marathon in Alaska to benefit lymphoma and leukemia research. "I'm thrilled to work at SHARE, and look forward to working wtih Maria and Carolyn. It's a great organization and I'm proud to be a part of it." Students Making a Difference: David Russell, a Brookline high school student, recently volunteered in the Food Pantry. In addition to his time, David also spent one week of pay from his part-time job to purchase items for the Pantry, plus made a $50 contribution. Thank you, David. St. Patrick Family Alternative Program made a unique and needed donation to the Food Pantry. Ten students put together 25 bags containing personal hygiene items. They sorted the products, decorated and filled the bags and made cards. What a wonderful gift for the SHARE pantry shoppers.
